For season 2010 the club will take out insurance policies ( through the VAFA's appointed insurer ) on behalf of players and members in categories of :
• Public Liability ( Compulsory ) • Professional Indemnity ( Compulsory ) • Player Accident
The player accident policy will be effective from March 1st, and provides a level of compensation for hospital, medical charges, and loss of wages. Please note that the policy is in practice quite limited and therefore unlikely to meet your entire insurance requirements.
As a guideline, claimants can expect to recover around 50% of the gap between total cost and recoveries from Medicare and private insurance. To supplement this basic cover, the VAFA insurer offers individual players the opportunity to purchase additional cover as required.
It is the responsibility of each player to ensure that they have adequate cover. The club encourages all players to consider private health insurance, as well as the cover available through insuresoft.com.
